The #44 returns back to Richard Petty Motorsports. The owner points from the #00 go to #47 for Marcos Ambrose. Aaron's will sponsor the team for 18 races in 2009.

Martin Truex Jr. Chevy Bass Pro Shops Earnhardt Ganassi Racing Kevin Manion Word is that Bass Pro Shops will only sponsor about 23 races. DEI and Ganassi Racing merged, called Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, Truex Jr. and DEI agree on one-year deal making Truex a free-agent after 2009.

?Marc Davis Toyota Farm Bureau Insurance Joe Gibbs Racing ? Joe Gibbs Racing may run three races (Martinsville in Oct, Texas in Nov, Homestead in Nov.) with sponsorship by Farm Bureau Insurance. Driver not officially announced, but could be Marc Davis.

Mark Martin Chevy Carquest, Kellogg's, Cheez-It Rick Hendrick Alan Gustafson Martin will run all the Cup races in 2009 and 26 races in 2010, sharing the ride with an un-named driver. Kellogg's and Carquest will return in 2009.

David Ragan Ford UPS Roush Fenway Racing Jimmy Fennig UPS signed a multi-year deal with Roush to sponsor the #6. Ragan has supposedly re-signed with Roush for at least 2009.

Casey Mears Chevy Jack Daniel's Richard Childress Gil Martin Mears takes over this ride from Clint Bowyer who moves to the new 4th Childress team. Bowyer now drives the #33 RCR team.

Robby Gordon Toyota Jim Beam Robby Gordon Kirk Almquist Using a Dodge for the Bud Shootout then run Toyota the rest of the season and Almquist returns as crew chief. Jim Beam signs up for 13 races as the primary sponsor.

Brad Keselowski Chevy Miccosukee Indian Gaming James Finch Marc Reno Brad Keselowski will run the Daytona 500 and nine other races in a Hendrick prepared Chevy. Meanwhile, Bliss, Marlin & Schrader supposedly will run the other races in a Dodge. Team plans to run the full 2009 season and has sponsorship from Miccosukee Indian Gaming for 10 races.

David Stremme Dodge Verizon Penske Racing South Roy McCauley Alltel was bought by Verizon and will continue to sponsor the team thru 2010, but will not be allowed to use its logos on the car, Verizon will also sponsor the Penske's #12 Nationwide team in 2009.

Tony Stewart Chevy Office Depot (17) ; Old Spice (17); Burger King (2) Stewart Haas Racing Darien Grubb Stewart Hass Motorsports forms a new team with Burger King as primary sponsor at Daytona in July and Dover in Sept. Grubb will be Stewart's crew chief in 2009, coming over from Hendrick Motorsports. Office Depot will be the major primary sponsor of the team with also Old Spice as a co-primary sponsor. The the #14 will be the old #70 team and the #39 of Ryan Newman will be the #66. Hendrick engines will be supplied to the team.

Greg Biffle Ford 3M, Dish Network Roush Fenway Racing Greg Erwin Biffle signed a 3-year extension with Roush in June. 3M will be back for three years, no word on how many races. No word if DISH Network will return in 2009.

Ryan Newman Chevy U.S. Army (23 races) Stewart Haas Racing Tony Gibson Ryan Newman will drive the second Stewart Hass Motorsports car with Tony Gibson as the crew chief. U.S. Army and Gibson both join the team from DEI. U.S. Army sponsorship will be the sponsor for 22 races and the All Star race.

Bobby Labonte was released from the team and Reed Sorenson originally signed to drive the #10 for Gillett Evernham Motorsports moves to the #43. Mike Shiplett will be the crew chief.

A.J. Allmendinger Dodge Valvoline Richard Petty Motorsports Sammy Johns Gillett Evernham Motorsports and Petty Racing merged to become Richard Petty Motorsports. Allmendinger has been announced as the driver of the #44. Plans are to run the Bud Shootout, the first 8 races and Daytona in July with hopes to run the full season.
